Project "Accessible Sport for All"

Dear friends in Rotary and fellow citizens, we are pleased to share with you about our project “Accessible Sport for All”, which started from the beginning of May 2023, but the preparations, conversations and efforts we put into its implementation began already in the autumn of last year.

Our project aims to provide an example of how private sports facilities can partner with schools with poorly equipped sports facilities and thus provide students with motivation and good conditions for sports. As a successful start of the “Accessible sport for all” initiative, Rotary Club of Sofia Triaditsa financed the attendance of professional swimming training for students from the 139th school “Zachary Krusha”. The training takes place in the Spartak swimming pool, thanks to our good partners and friends from the team managing the swimming pool and to Mr. Petar Stoychev personally. The project would not have been possible without the motivated director and teachers from the 139th school “Zachary Krusha”, who accepted our idea and assisted in its implementation. So far, more than 30 students, who want to get to know this basic and very important sport, have already attended the training sessions, which take place 2 times a week. Why did we choose to fund such an activity? Because swimming has many direct and indirect benefits for the health and development of children - it helps strengthen the muscles of adolescents, overcome contortions, reduces the risks of respiratory diseases, obesity, improves coordination and teaches children how to cope in dangerous situations in publicly accessible water volumes.

The smiles of the children and the willingness with which all participants in the initiative support the activities is a confirmation for us from RK Sofia Triaditsa that similar joint projects in which we connect the wishes and ambitions of children, teachers, parents and coaches have a fruitful and positive effect on our society and the future of our children.
